CDC Wonder provides a single point of access to a wide variety of reports and numeric public health data.

Basic health information from the U.S. National Institutes of Health. Find easy-to-understand information on illnesses and conditions from Allergies to West Nile Virus. Includes links to more detailed information from databases such as PubMed and Medline Plus.

A.D.A.M. Health Illustrated Encyclopedia, hosted by MedlinePlus, with over 4,000 articles about diseases, tests, symptoms, injuries, and surgeries, and an extensive library of medical photographs and illustrations. Also the MedlinePlus Online Medical Dictionary.

The National Women's Health Information Center of the Dept. of Health & Human Services offers an informative newsletter, health information and tips, data and statistics and a toll-free number for tracking down federal information relating to women's health. There are online calculators for calories, BMI, exercise and portions, recipes, menus and many other aids to good health. Students, teachers, and researchers can find information on grant and student loan repayment opportunities aimed at increasing research on women's health issues.

The Office of Minority Health of the Dept. of Health & Human Services offers informative newsletters on health disparity and HIV, data and statistics, and useful resources for health providers, caretakers, and the public relating specifically to minority health. Portions available in Spanish. OMH also facilitates the search for grants to organizations working to eliminate health disparities. The Vaccine Adverse Event Report System is a national vaccine safety surveillance program working to detect possible signals of adverse events associated with vaccines. Reports are welcome from all, even if the reporter isn't sure the vaccine caused the problem. A serious problem should be reported, especially if it resulted in hospitalization, disability, or death.
