In partnership with the National Black Arts Festival, the Auburn Avenue Research Library presents the 2010 Ashley Bryan Children's Literary Festival. Over the course of this three-day festival, children, parents, caregivers, educators and others will become actively engaged in celebrating the sensitive and authentic representation of the Africana experience in the genre of children's and young adult literature. This event will include author presentations and book signings by 2010 Festival honorees Kadir Nelson and Evelyn Coleman.

The Auburn Avenue Research Library and the UGA Digital Library of Georgia are the recipients of the 2009 National Historical Papers and Records Commission grant to digitize and make Web-accessible eleven late nineteenth and mid-twentieth century manuscript collections that document the historical development of education for African Americans, primarily in the South, from the early 1860s to the early 1950s.
