Access to Archives
The AARL Archives Division is located on the second floor of the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History (101 Auburn Avenue; Atlanta, GA 30303; 404-730-4001, ext. 200) .
The Auburn Avenue Research Library is open to the public. All researchers wishing to use archival collections are encouraged to make an appointment with an Archives Division staff person prior to visiting the Research Library. Valid library cards are required for access to collections. The Auburn Avenue Research Library accepts all cards provided by the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System for use of materials except the PC Reservation Card. The cards may be used to check out non-circulating materials in the Archives and Reference and Research Divisions. Currently, AARL issues two (2) types of cards: 1) The Auburn Guest Card; and, 2) The Resident Card. Materials “checked out” at the Research Library must remain in the facility and in the area from which they are borrowed. All items are due prior to closing on the same day that they were checked out.
