Library Volunteer Named Fulton County Citizen of the Year
Congratulations to library volunteer, Jay Higginbotham, who was named 2009 Citizen Volunteer of the Year by Volunteer Fulton (http://fultonhumanservices.org/volunteerfulton.htm) at their annual luncheon on Friday, June 26, 3009. He was honored for his exceptional support of libraries and civic involvement. Jay led the “Vote Yes for Libraries” committee which successfully campaigned for the passage of the Library Bond Referendum November 2008. This bond will significantly enhance Fulton County’s public libraries with 8 new libraries, 2 expanded libraries and 23 renovated libraries. (For the current plans for the library click here.) Jay is a long-time library volunteer who spearheaded the founding of the Friends of the Central Atlanta Library in 2002. He served as President of that group for four years and currently serves as Secretary. In addition, Jay is also the Vice-Chair of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library Foundation. We are indeed fortunate to have Jay as a volunteer!
