Atlantas Civil Rights Movement: Filling the Gaps - Family History and Genealogy Month at Central

This program will outline a project to identify the unnamed supporters of Atlanta’s Civil Rights Movement. Were you or your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors or acquaintances part of the movement. Historian in Heels, Dr. Karcheik Sims-Alvarado will present a brief discussion of her recent book Atlanta and the Civil Rights Movement, 1944-1968, then outline the goals and objectives of the project fill out the history of the movement. Local History Books Coming to Northeast/ Spruill Oaks Library

NE/Spruill Oaks Library Community Room
The Public is invited to enjoy Tim Spruell, a local historian and descendent of the Spruell family that previously owned and farmed large areas of N. Fulton, including the library property.  Displays and stories of the land, events, and earlier inhabitants of the Johns Creek area.  Historical Society members who will be available to answer questions. Providing several libraries with a research section on local history is an initiative of the Alpharetta & Old Milton Historical Society. The Johns Creek Historical Society is proud to be a partner in this initiative.
